Mental Math
To start your day, begin by spending about 30 minutes playing one of the mental math games that are posted! You can find these under the tab in the top right hand corner labelled "Mental Math".
Time to Warm Up
Before we dive into some more tally charts, let's do a word search to get familiar with some words we'll be using in this unit! This word search in an interactive-online word search, so just click the link, highlight the words, and have fun! https://thewordsearch.com/puzzle/1089572/fun-math-words/
Tally Chart
After you have completed the word search, you and your student can work on the worksheet that is shown below to help work on their ability to read tally charts. You can either choose to print off the work sheet or write it down on paper, either or will work!

Wrap Up and Reflection
To conclude today's lesson, talk with your student about ways they could use tally charts in their every day life. Together, try to come up with at least 3 different ways or reasons that your student might choose to use a tally chart!
